Mr Chaudhri is an amazing surgeon with great skill and he is also a very genuine person. He listens to what you think and feel (a rare feature in some consultants) and guides you through the most appropriate treatment explaining every step in detail. You do feel as though you know and understand exactly what is going to be done and also that you have had a choice in the decision making. The laporascopic surgery that he performed was a much better choice than the extensive open surgery that had been recommended by a previous surgeon. He has been a great support to me and advocate in sorting out my onward journey through Lymphoma treatment. I would definitely recommend Mr Choudhri to anyone who needed any sort of laporascopic surgery.

I cannot speak to highly of the care I received from Mr. chaudhri. for over 20 years I had suffered from Ulcerative Colitis which towards the end had become virtually uncontrollable. At my last routine Colonoscopy it was found that there was evidence of cancer in the large intestine and I was referred to Mr. Chaudhri. I more or less knew what the outcome would be - total removal of the large intestine - but nevertheless Mr. Chaudhri explained in great detail what the operation entailed. Nothing seemed too much trouble for him. He seemed surprised that I was actually looking forward to the operation but having suffered the restrictions imposed by Ulcerative colitis for so long, never being able to venture more that a few yards from a toilet, the operation seemed to offer a return to a normal life. I was booked in for my operation at the Leicester General Hospital where, before and after the operation, I saw wonderful Stoma Nurses who explained the intricacies of the Stoma bag which I would have to wear for the rest of my life - more about this later. From my arrival at L.G.H. I received superb treatment. At each new event from initial preparation to being taken to theatre, everything that would be happening to me was explained in detail. Of course, I remember nothing of the actual operation (thankfully!) and woke up in a post-op ward where I received superb 24-hour care from the ward nurses and stoma care nurses. Since the operation was done laparoscopically (keyhole), the only significant wound was where the whole bowel (including the anus) was removed downwards. This wound healed well but made sitting down uncomfortable for a few weeks - a ring cushion helped. Other than that minor discomfort, I can honestly say I was never in any pain. I was in hospital for just one week. Follow up has also been impeccable including CT and MRI scans to ensure there was no further evidence of the cancer having spread. Post-op I had visits from the stoma nurses to ensure I was coping with the stoma bags and when visits were no longer necessary, I could call a stoma nurse at any time. Thankfully this has not been necessary. For those who face the thought of having to wear a stoma bag with some trepidation, it really is no problem. Very soon it becomes a routine and like anything else which you practise regularly, you learn the best ways of dealing with emptying and changing the bags. So, in summary, just over 1 year after my operation, my life has been transformed. From being virtually restricted to my home for many years, I can (and do) now travel where and when I want. I shall never be able to thank Mr. Chaudhri and his team enough for giving me my life back. Paul Banbury
